Research mode enables third party applications to access the depth data stream on the HoloLens.
Sign in to Device Portal
Research mode can be enabled in device portal. Make sure you have set up your HoloLens device to use device portal following this guide. Connect your HoloLens to the internet and check your device IP address from your WiFi settings. Then sign in to device portal by visiting your IP address in a browser window and entering your username and password. If you don’t know your credentials you can reset them at
your-ip-address/devicepair.htmEnable Research Mode
Go to System → Research Mode and enable
Allow access to sensor streams. Then click on Power → Restart to restart your headset and allow the changes the come in to effect.
